What is meditation ?
It is one of those questions that is often difficult to put the answer in words.
What is the point in just sitting there laying still ? What mediation does is takes you in the mode of “Being” from “Doing”. After all we are Human Beings not Human Doings. The pace of life in today’s time leaves very room for us to be in a “Being” state of mind. There are several advantages in the “Being” state of mind that the “Doing” ( intellect or thinking mind) cannot understand. Think of the human body like a solar powered device ( for e.g. a solar powered water heater). Such a device needs to be exposed in the sunlight without disturbance until it accumulates energy in the right spots. After which, it can be used for the purpose it is created for. In the same way the human body runs on energy centers in the body called “Chakras”.
During meditation, these chakras are given the space to orient and reorient themselves in the best ways to serve your physical body.
This adjustment is needed for the various parts of the mind and body to function in sync. The human intellect is so powerful that it has made such radical advances in technologies. However the one technology that we have not been able to build is the ability to create emotions. Why do you think this is so ? It only proves that there will always be creative powers beyond the understanding of the human intellect. It is important to recognize and know that we don’t know. Once we can accept that it allows you to BE without feeling the necessity to make sense of it all.
So just like how a beautiful rose knows how to bloom on its own as long as it gets sunlight, soil and water allow meditation to replenish the energies needed for YOU to function, trusting the intelligence that created you in the first place.
